NAF fighter jets kill terrorists, destroy hideouts in Lake Chad region

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets; have killed several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists with the destruction
of hideouts in Lake Chad region.

Nigeria Air Force Spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed this in a press statement on Saturday in Maiduguri said the fighter jets targeted the terrorists; at Kira Wulgo hideouts located on shores of the lake.

“The airstrikes were conducted by Air Task Force (ATF); Operation Lafiya Dole on  October 4, 2019, after persistent Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission.

“It revealed that the settlement was being used as a staging area from where the terrorists launch attacks against own troops’ positions.

He said consequently, the ATF dispatched its aircraft to attack identified compounds within the settlement.
According to him; overhead the target area, scores of fighters were observed attempting to flee upon sighting the attack platforms.
He said the fighter jets took turns in engaging the location, scoring accurate hits which led to the destruction of some structures as well as killing several terrorists.
“The Nigeria Air Force, operating with ground troops, will sustain its efforts to completely destroy all remnants of terrorists in the northeast,” he said.
