55-year-old man kills wife, flees community in Yobe

A 55-year-old Hamidu Ali, has allegedly killed his wife at Koriyel village in Tarmuwa Local Council of Yobe state.
After killing the 40-year-old housewife, the husband consequently fled the community to an unknown destination in the state.
Confirming the murder incident in a statement released Sunday, in Damaturu, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim
revealed, “On June 28, 2025, the Tarmuwa Divisional Headquarters at 11:00. a.m. received a distress call from residents of Koriyel village over the fleeing of one Hamidu Ali, as he had killed his wife with a machete last night,” explaining to the police that the husband murdered his wife for an unknown reason to some of the villagers.
Abdulkarim further disclosed that investigations by the police in the state, also led to the arrest of Musa Sule, 25, and Muntari Suleman, 30, of Ngalda town in Fika Local Council of the state.
He said the two suspects were nabbed for the brutal killing of a person over an alleged theft of a cellphone and a power bank. According to him, the two suspects confessed to the crime, while investigations are ongoing at the State Crimes Investigation Department (CID).
The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado also warned residents against taking laws into their hands through the respect of rule of law, stating, “This will ensure peaceful resolution of conflicts and support of the law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order in the various communities.”
