AC4D Rolls Out Tricycles of Hope for Disabled Students in Gombe
In a significant boost for inclusive education, the Advocacy Centre for Development (AC4D) has donated mobility tricycles to physically challenged students in Gombe State, aiming to ease their journey to school and improve access to learning.
The presentation took place at the Shongo Idrisa Government Junior Secondary School and AC4D office in Gombe over the weekend.
The Executive Director, Ibrahim Yusuf emphasised the importance of supporting children with disabilities to achieve their academic dreams.
Escorted and supported by O.C. Gender NSCDC Gombe State Command and the Principal of the School, the O.C. Gender said
“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed regardless of physical limitations.” In his own remarks, the principal of the school appreciated the organisation for the gesture and prayed for them.
“These tricycles are not just mobility tools but a symbol of dignity and equal opportunity.”
Among the beneficiaries was 13-year-old Ummulkursum Abdurrashid from Shongo Idrisa Village, who expressed her excitement and relief.
“Before now, going to school was difficult. I had to wait for my father to carry me. With this tricycle, I can now go to school on my own,” she said joyfully.
Also receiving a tricycle was 12-year-old Salisu Ali from the Riyal Quarters in the Akko Local Government Area. Salisu, who has long struggled with mobility challenges, thanked AC4D and said the donation has given him a new sense of independence.
Parents and community members lauded the initiative, describing it as a life-changing intervention that will have long-term benefits for the children and their families.
With this thoughtful donation, AC4D continues to lead by example in championing the rights and education of persons with disabilities, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children in the region.
