The Adamawa State Police Command has unveiled a comprehensive security plan to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday in Yola, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, announced that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Heads of Departments have been directed to reassess and strengthen existing security frameworks in their respective jurisdictions ahead of the festivities scheduled for June 6, 2025.
“As part of our proactive approach, we are reviewing security architecture in all 21 Local Government Areas to guarantee safety during the Sallah celebrations,” Morris stated.
He disclosed that a strategic meeting was held with senior officers to design coordinated operational strategies aimed at safeguarding lives and property throughout the holiday period.
To reinforce public safety, the Commissioner ordered increased surveillance and high-visibility patrols at Eid prayer grounds, markets, major roads, recreation centres, and other public venues.
Morris also emphasized the critical role of intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation, calling on residents to actively participate in reporting any suspicious activities or security threats in their communities.
“Our success depends on community engagement,” he said. “We urge the public to partner with the police by providing timely information.”
The Commissioner further advised officers to maintain professionalism, uphold human rights, and embrace community-friendly policing methods during the festivities.
He appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, encouraging them to report suspicious individuals or behaviour to the police or other security agencies.
