Al-Ansar University Secures Full NUC Accreditation for 15 Degree Programs
Al-Ansar University, the first private university in the historic Kanem-Borno Empire, has recorded a historic feat with the full accreditation of fifteen (15) of its undergraduate degree programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
This monumental achievement, following the commission’s rigorous November/December 2024 accreditation exercise, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and national development.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by Muhammad Adam Abubakar, the university’s information officer.
Founded by renowned philanthropist and visionary Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, Al-Ansar University Maiduguri has swiftly emerged as a beacon of innovation, character formation, and learning in Northeast Nigeria.
With modern facilities, a student-centric environment, and a team of seasoned professionals, the university continues to deliver on its promise to redefine private tertiary education in the region.
The recently accredited programmes and their impressive scores include economics (99.2%), mass communication (98.3%), computer science (95.8%), software engineering (95.8%), cybersecurity (95.8%), biotechnology (95.0%), criminology & security studies (94.3%), Islamic studies (93.9%), entrepreneurship (92.4%), petroleum chemistry (89.6%), accounting (88.7%), procurement management (88.6%), peace & conflict resolution (88.5%), public health (87.7%), and biochemistry (86.1%).
The average rating of 92.65% across all accredited programmes reflects not just institutional competence but also a national endorsement of Al-Ansar’s academic standards.
The university’s computing programmes have received full accreditation from the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN). Visits by other key professional bodies such as the Medical Laboratory Science Council, Nursing & Midwifery Council, and forthcoming visits by the Council for Legal Education and the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria further signal the university’s expanding influence.
“This achievement is a reflection of our commitment to nurturing globally competitive graduates grounded in knowledge, ethics, and innovation,” the vice-chancellor noted in a message of appreciation.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to faculty, staff, students, parents, and stakeholders whose collective efforts made this feat possible.
As Al-Ansar University celebrates this victory, it remains resolute in its mission to advance education, preserve cultural legacy, and drive societal transformation.
This is not just an accreditation milestone; it is a bold affirmation that Al-Ansar University is a rising star in Nigeria’s academic galaxy.
