APC disclaims Accountant General’s new leadership in Nasarawa LGA
The Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed dissatisfaction with the new development, where some unpopular elements claiming to be members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, sat somewhere in Nasarawa local government area of the state to appoint a serving accountant general, Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed, as its new forum chairman.
A party chieftain, Hon. Mohammed O. Abdullahi, and APC stalwart, Guto/Aisa Ward, said the news came in as a movie script prepared to sell to their gullible supporters.
According to Abdullahi, the emergence of the state accountant general, Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed, as the new leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa LGA could be best described as nothing more than a social media show of shame.
He noted that it’s purely a gross misrepresentation of the real political situation in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
It would be recalled that Mohammed, a former two-term Speaker of the State Assembly, emerged during a meeting on Sunday in Nasarawa through a unanimous decision attended by some factional members of the APC.
Mohammed reportedly succeeded a former chairman of the APC Elders Forum, the late Senator Abubakar Danso Sodangi, who died in March this year at the age of 70.
According to Abdullahi, it has therefore become necessary to state the facts as follows:
- There is no such office established by the constitution of our political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the ‘Leader of the Party’ at the local government level. As such, any person claiming to occupy such a nonexistent position is merely clutching at straws. And even if there is any such office, the Executive Chairman of the LGC automatically assumes it, like the President and Governors at the federal and state levels.
- There was no point in time that stakeholders of the party from across all fifteen electoral wards of Nasarawa Local Government Area met to deliberate and even anoint someone as the ‘leader’ of the APC in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
- What actually transpired was that some stakeholders of the APC, mostly drawn from the four electoral wards within Nasarawa Town, sat and anointed Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed as the leader of one of the interest groups within the party in Nasarawa LGA.
- It is evidently clear that none of the local government officials and stakeholders from the eleven electoral wards outside Nasarawa Town, including the Zonal Chairman of the party, attended the meeting where the Accountant-General was said to have been made the leader of the party.
- If we should tell ourselves the truth, there was never a time that our late political father, Senator Abubakar Danso Sodangi, was truly the leader of the APC in Nasarawa Local Government Area. At best, the late Senator Sodangi was the leader of an interest group within the party.
- It has, therefore, become necessary to clear the illusion generated by this misrepresentation of facts and to present the true situation to the general public. Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed is the leader of an interest group within the Apc Nasarawa LGA.
