Army Chief Pledges to Prioritize Welfare and Protection of Nigeria, Nigerians

Acting Chief of Army Staff (Ag COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede had reassured troops of the Nigerian Army that their welfare and the protection of Nigeria and its citizens are his topmost priorities.
He made this promise during the official handover of the Infantry Corps to Major General Abdulkalifa Ibrahim at the Headquarters Infantry Corps in Jaji, Kaduna State.
General Oluyede praised Major General Ibrahim as a competent and dedicated senior Infantry officer, expressing confidence that he will sustain the momentum of progress in the Corps. He urged all officers and soldiers to cooperate with and support the new commander.
The Ag COAS also expressed gratitude to the troops for their support during the internment of Late COAS Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja. He prayed for eternal rest for the departed and fortitude for his family.
Addressing the Infantry Corps, General Oluyede charged the troops to put the past behind them and focus on tackling insecurity. He assured them that their welfare will be prioritized, saying, “I am aware of your challenges and will tackle them head-on. Rest assured that anything that is yours will be given to you.”
The new Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Abdulkalifa Ibrahim, pledged to lead with integrity, courage, and dedication. He recognized the sacrifices and resilience of infantry personnel and urged them to uphold the Army’s core values.
A member of the 39th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Ibrahim has served in various capacities, including acting Garrison Commander, Commander 14 Brigade, and General Officer Commanding 7 Division. He has received national honors from Nigeria and Chad for his contributions to peace and security.
The Acting COAS inspected ongoing projects in Jaji military Cantonment and visited the Command Engineering Depot at Rigachukun, Kaduna, demonstrating his commitment to progress and development.
