Army completes screening of 641 Borno youths for training

The Nigerian Army has completed the screening of 641 Borno youths for military training at Belgore forest.

The youths were selected by the Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

While addressing the youths Wednesday in Maiduguri at the parade ground of the Maimalari Cantonment, Major Garba disclosed: “The recruits are purely and basically from the various local governments of the state.”

He added that the recruits were also tested for HIV/AIDS, diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases, including their levels of training endurance.

He said that immediately after the screening exercise; training will commence this week.

While congratulating the recruits for a successful screening, Governor Babagana Zulum said that; “I congratulate all of you here at the military parade ground for passing the litmus test.

“This will allow you to become soldiers in the Nigerian Army,” stating that as indigenes of the state you should be good ambassadors.

According to him, under no circumstances they should not misbehave during the six-month military training.

He said that they are each to be provided with the needed support, including N15, 000 monthly allowances.

Besides the allowance, the sum of N20, 000 each will also be given before they depart tomorrow (Thursday) for the training.

He, therefore, wished them a safe journey with a successful training exercise to fight the Boko Haram insurgency.
