ASR Africa Commences Construction of Ultra-Modern Hospital for Nigerian Customs Service in Bauchi
Bauchi State is set to experience a significant boost in healthcare infrastructure as the Abdul Samad-Rabiu Initiative (ASR Africa) has commenced the construction of a state-of-the-art, 30-bed hospital for the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).
This project, funded under ASR Africa’s security sector support grant, was officially inaugurated on Monday, marking a monumental step in improving medical facilities for the NCS and the surrounding community.
Dr. Udon Udoh, Managing Director of the ASR Initiative for Africa, highlighted the project’s scope and vision during the groundbreaking ceremony.
The N500 million hospital will be equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, aiming to provide top-tier healthcare services.
Dr. Udoh emphasised that this initiative reflects a strategic partnership between the Nigerian Customs Service and ASR Africa, showcasing a collaborative effort to enhance Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
“This collaboration is a testament to the commitment of our Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, and the BUA Group to fulfilling their promises to security agencies across Nigeria,” Dr. Udoh stated.
He reiterated ASR Africa’s dedication to engaging with all beneficiaries of the security grant to ensure the successful implementation of selected projects across the nation’s armed forces and security agencies.
The inception of this hospital is part of a larger N10 billion grant announced by Abdul Samad Rabiu during a visit to then-President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2022.
This grant, aimed at bolstering the capabilities of Nigeria’s security agencies, includes provisions for the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Bashir Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, expressed profound gratitude to ASR Africa for their generous contribution.
“We are delighted to partner with an esteemed organisation like ASR Africa, which has chosen to support us with a world-class healthcare facility in Bauchi,” Adeniyi remarked.
He noted that the new hospital would significantly enhance the capacity and welfare of customs personnel and benefit the broader Yelwa community and Bauchi state at large.
“This facility is dedicated not only to the customs officers and their families but also to serving the entire Yelwa community and Bauchi as a whole,” Adeniyi added.
The construction of this ultra-modern hospital marks a new chapter in healthcare provision for the Nigerian Customs Service, reinforcing the importance of strategic partnerships in driving national development.
As the project progresses, it promises to deliver substantial health benefits, exemplifying the impact of ASR Africa’s philanthropic efforts in Nigeria.
