BaSAM Set for September Priorities in Bauchi State

In line with the term of reference (ToR) establishing Champion group under the Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (BaSAM), plans have been concluded for the implementation of its September priorities.

A press statement signed and issued by BaSAM public relations officer (PRO) Bashir Hassan Abubakar and made available to our correspondent said that the articulation of the plan was carried out in the monthly meeting of BaSAM champions, held on Tuesday at the conference hall of ACE-HI, Bauchi.

Speaking briefly before the commencement of the meeting, Co-Chair of BaSAM, from the CSOs side Ibrahim Ladan Wunti said the meeting will seek to fine-tune activities slated for September 2021.

He said the main area of focus will be the developing concept notes for the BaSAM sustainability focus workplan.
Ladan, who is also the leader of the champion group under the coalition said that another key activity to be discussed during the meeting is the planning of the second quarter review meeting that will attract all members of BaSAM.

He urged the champions to pay attention and contribute meaningful input that may add value to the coalition’s overall aims and objectives.

Also speaking, the state advisor of evidence for action (E4A) Mamaye activity in Bauchi Khadija Abdulwahab Katagum expressed her delight in the commitment, zeal and passion demonstrated by the coalition’s champions and all other members of the various subcommittees that made up BaSAM.

“Not only are they planning their September priorities to be carried, but you can also see that even the agenda items are being already figured out/itemised for the 2021 second quarter review meeting.

“I am optimistic about the outcomes of the champions meeting. I commend BaSAM determination in its sustainability drive”, said Katagum.

Our correspondent reports that BaSAM is a coalition whose membership was drawn from government MDAs, Civil Society Organizations and Media. The main objective of the coalition is to carry out advocacy, using evidence towards improved MNCHN in Bauchi State.
