The Borno State Literary Society in Maiduguri on Sunday organized a Book review where it dissected a book written by Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, General Yusuf Tukur Buratai (retd) titled “The Legend of Buratai Volume 2.”

The Chief Reviewer, Dr. Abubakar Uthman described the book as “the enigmatic story of a legend” adding that it was a unique publication.

The book contains nine chapters from the beginning of the author’s life, testimonies, his personal encounters, encounters with paranormal human beings and encounters with snakes.

Dr. Uthman noted that President Muhammadu Buhari serves as an open and close bracket in the life of Buratai as he first identified young Buratai to be fit to be a soldier while he was the Military Governor of Borno State and subsequently made him a Chief of Army Staff.

In his keynote address, Buratai appreciated the review committee and Borno Literary Society for finding the book worthy of a subject of review by the society.

In his words, “I am working towards getting young officers and senior officers to know the intricacies and leadership attributes and qualities that are required for young officers to start their career with”.

“One of the biggest lessons to be derived in the book is the conquering of fear, fear has done a lot of damages to our youths, fear of the unknown and lack of confidence which has contributed to the societal problems that our youths have faced.”

Another member of the review committee Dr. Kabura Zakama pointed that the book is targeted at young people. According to him, when young people search for role models and they don’t find any, they rebel. “We are seeing a lot of rebellious youth which is our faults as elders for not being a role model”

The first volume of the book was published in 2020 while the second volume was published in mid-2021. General Buratai assured book lovers that Volume 3, 4, and 5 will be released.
