Borno police commissioner disburses N13.4m to families of officers died on duty.

The Borno Police Command has released N13.4 million to the families of 10 police officers that died while exercising their duties in protecting people’s lives and property in the state.
In a statement released yesterday, in Maiduguri, SP Nahum Daso revealed that the police commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid, disbursed the sum of N13.4 million on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to the families of fallen police officers and men.
The SP explained that the N13.4 million initiative is under the Nigerian Police Force’s Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme (FWS).
Daso added that the scheme was designed to cushion the hardships faced by the families of personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duties in various parts of the state.
Abdulmajid also condoled the bereaved family members and assured them of IGP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of both serving and fallen heroes of the command.
Emphasising the sacrifices made by the officers, the police chief stated, “You will never be forgotten, as the Force remains dedicated to ensuring the well-being of the families of the deceased officers’ dependants.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the police insurance scheme, Jerry Joel expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the IGP for their support during the 16-year Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
