The Borno State Government; is to partner five Egyptian Universities in the health, education and agriculture sectors.
The partnership with Azhar University Teaching Hospital (AUTH), was for the establishment of Borno State Teaching Hospital (BSTH) in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Spokesman to Governor Babagana Zulum, Isa Gusau in a statement Wednesday in Maiduguri disclosed that: “The Governor is expected to lead high-level discussions for collaboration between Borno and Egyptian institutions in three critical sectors.”
He said that Zulum is also leading a team that will visit five Universities, including Al-Azhar varsity.
According to him, the Governor is to discuss how his administration could partner with experienced Azhar teaching hospital to establish BSTH; Maiduguri.
He added that a high powered technical committee has been set to establish a medical college and a teaching hospital in the state.
He noted that the establishment of the hospital will prepare Borno State University (BOSU) award degrees in medicine and surgery.
The Governor’s visit was also to seek guidance from the Egyptian embassy to ensure transparency and prudence in partnership.
Other top government officials that accompanied Zulum, include Ali Kotoko, representing Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) in Borno State House of Assembly, Commissioners of Agriculture, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Bukar Talba and Babagana Malumbe
