Brave Troops Crush Terrorist Assault in Gwoza, Recover Weapons, Vehicles
Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai successfully thwarted a well-coordinated terrorist offensive on their base in Izge, located in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident, which took place early Tuesday morning, resulted in the elimination of numerous insurgents and the seizure of significant combat gear.
A fierce firefight ensued as the attackers attempted to overrun the military position, but the troops’ resilience turned the tide, forcing the assailants to retreat in confusion.
Soldiers swiftly pursued the fleeing terrorists, eliminating more than seven of them during the follow-up operation.
Recovered items included a PKT automatic machine gun with ammunition belts, a motorcycle, and ten bicycles suspected to be part of the terrorists’ logistics supply system.
In a separate clash, troops at Mallamfatori repelled another attempted incursion, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy.
Commending the soldiers for their heroism, the theatre commander urged continued vigilance and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the northeast.
