Buni clinches award for peace-building, leadership in Yobe

In recognition of his contributions to peace-building for development in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni has been awarded a prestigious peace-building award.
The Peace Building Development Consult (PBDC) honoured Buni with the award on Wednesday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The award-receiving ceremony was led by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation (WCEEG), Aji Yerima Bularafa, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Abuja.
According to the consult, it was a testament to Buni’s commitment to promoting peace and stability, despite the 15-year Boko Haram insurgency that destroyed many lives and property in the state. With the governor’s
Exemplary leadership and contributions to peacebuilding and development have enabled him to work tirelessly in rebuilding and strengthening communities with resilience.
It noted that the award will further ginger Buni to promote not only peace but also to sustain a culture of peaceful coexistence in various communities.
“Buni’s commitment to creating a conducive environment has also led to the development of human and capital resources for the economic development of the state,” said the consultant.
Besides the outstanding contributions to development, it noted, “This award is a celebration of Buni’s dedication to the welfare of the people across the state,” as Buni has demonstrated an understanding of the complexities of peace-building by addressing the root causes of conflicts, poverty and unemployment in the state.
