Construction Union Urges Swift Action on Workers’ Welfare and Security
The Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association (CCESSA) has called for immediate steps to improve the welfare and security of construction workers in Nigeria.
Speaking at the association’s Special Delegates’ Conference in Abuja, CCESSA President Ayodeji Adeyemo urged the government to intervene swiftly in addressing the economic struggles of construction workers, who face rising poverty and inadequate wages.
Adeyemo also stressed the need to resolve ongoing disputes between the Ministry of Works and the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI) to prevent job losses. He emphasized the importance of improving security measures to protect workers from kidnapping and other threats.
Adeyemo further encouraged CCESSA members to focus on preparing for retirement through health management, investments, and continuous professional development to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving industry.
