Corruption, climate change, others fuel terrorism in Northeast

According to him, deforestation and the porous borders with neighbouring countries, contribute to the buildup of insurgency in the region.
Unfolding the factors to terrorism, yesterday, (Wednesday), in Maiduguri, at the Defense Headquarters lecture to troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), he disclosed: “Corruption, climate change and porous borders, are responsible for the lingering terrorists activities in Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region,”
Abubakar, in a paper titled; “Defense Headquarters lecture to personnel of OPHK on hard and soft approaches to counterterrorism and insurgency in Northeast,” was to overcome the challenges of insecurity to lives and property in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

He noted that corruption not only a bane to development, but fuels terrorism and insurgency, warning that; “It may take many years if the six factors could not be addressed to end the lingering war.”
The Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj-Gen, Ola Bello said that ensuring civil/military relationship could reinforce the non-kinetic operations among the various communities in the region.
He noted that in ensuring the cordial relationship with the civilians, the Army has distributed educational materials to schools in Gubio and Magumeri local councils of Borno state.
