Dabna Attack Is Not Boko Haram, But Land Dispute- Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has directed all traditional and political leaders in Dabna community in Garaha ward, Hong local government area that does not reside in the area to within one month come back and stay with the people or otherwise face sanctions.

The Governor visited the area on Sunday to commiserate with the people of Dabna over last week’s attack by unidentified gunmen that leftover twenty people dead.

Recall last Wednesday some miscreants attacked the community in the morning hours, burnt down LCCN and Awareness Churches, some selected shops, households, and killed scores of people including some members of vigilante groups.

Fintiri, who vowed to punish anybody found wanting, assured them that the government is in touch with the military chiefs and commanders to secure the volatile area from security challenges.

“The attack is not from Boko Haram insurgents as investigations have shown that the attack was carried out in connivance with some conspirators in the area over land communal issues.”

“Anybody found wanton in the dastardly act will not be spare as the investigation is ongoing to fish out the perpetrators who are bent at destabilizing the peace of the area and bring them to book so as to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said

“The community should be vigilant, as the government is talking with the high Military command to establish a super camp in the area,” he said.

While commiserating with hunters over the loss of their members during the attack, Fintiri tasked them not to be deterred as the government will assist them with incentives to enable them to continue serving their fatherland by complementing the efforts of government security agencies.

In a remark, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas who frowned over the incessant security threats in the area called on the Government to ensure bad eggs among the dwellers who connive with miscreants to cause mayhem are fished out.

Earlier, the District Head of Dugwaba, Mr Simon Yakubu said the area is prone to security threat owing to its proximity with Sambisa forest and appealed for the establishment of military camps between Kopre and Askira as well as Garkida that borders with Borno state.
