By Matthew Eloyi

The Director of Education Resource Centre, FCT City Library, Hajiya Neemat Abdulrahim has called on parents and stakeholders in the children literacy campaign to continue to collaborate with the library with a view to developing effective programmes that will enhance quality education in the Federal Capital Territory.

Abdulrahim made the call while delivering her welcome address at the closing ceremony of the Children Summer Holidays programme with the theme “Widening our horizon through Virtual Platform” at the City Library, Abuja on Thursday.

According to her, the essence of the two weeks programme was to engage the children on educational activities outside the normal classroom activities, as well as exposing them to reading e-books through the Digitalback book platform which has been running at the library since March, 2020.

She added that the programme covered activities such as reading competition, spelling bee and brainstorming on COVID-19 Pandemic.

She expressed optimism that the children’s reading culture would improve through the programme and they would be able to build more confidence in themselves.

“I believe that all of us present here today are stakeholders in the children literacy campaign. This being the case, no effort or sacrifice can be too much for the development of our children because they are the leaders of tomorrow; as such no investment is too much on them,” said Abdulrahim.
