FOMWAN advocate for quality data on GSV in Bauchi

The Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria FOMWAN) has advocated that data bank should be designed for result oriented campaigns against all forms of Gender and Sexual Based Violence (GSBV) in Bauchi state
The State chairperson of the association, Hajiya Aisha Kilishi stated this while briefing news men on it’s 16 days activism on GSBV held in Bauchi.
She said that data generated by Civil Society organizations (CSO), Nigerian Police Force and other stakeholders should be harmonised to serve as guide and tool in the fight against the menace.
She said that FOMWAN with branches across the 20 local Government Areas in the state would hold extra curricular activities that would engage teenagers and youths on checkmating the acts.
Kilishi said that to fast track the eradication of GSBV, the capacity of women must be strengthened through entrepreneurship and teamwork.
She said that becoming empowered would give women a voice in the economic sphere of their communities.
Kilishi called on CSOs in Bauchi state to redouble their efforts and promote zero tolerance of GSBV.
She acknowledged the commitment of the Bauchi state Government for enacting the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.
The theme for this year’s international days for Activism on GSBV is Orange the World: Fund, Respond,Prevent, Collect!
