FOMWAN Sparks Creativity in Bauchi: 20 Students Empowered with Modern Interior Décor Skills
In a move to ignite innovation and artistic expression among young minds, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has equipped 20 students in Bauchi State with hands-on training in interior decoration.
Speaking at the launch of the one-day workshop held on Wednesday in Bauchi, the Executive Director of FOMWAN, Habiba Usman, emphasised that the initiative was designed to reshape participants’ perception of waste by transforming everyday household items into beautiful interior design pieces.
“Our goal is to open the minds of young people to the endless possibilities of upcycling. This training introduces them to using repurposed materials, alongside basic tools like paint, to create simple yet stylish canvas art and abstract designs,” Usman explained.
She further revealed that FOMWAN intends to incorporate similar creative programs into its school curriculum soon, providing a long-term platform for artistic development.
Participants expressed their excitement and appreciation for the experience, noting that it served as an eye-opener into the world of do-it-yourself design and artistic innovation.
The event featured live demonstrations and practical sessions, giving students a real-time feel of contemporary decoration techniques using sustainable materials.
