Football Development: Mailantarki showcase 18 Gombe lads to Russian scouts
In efforts to help develop grassroots sports and empower young footballers across Gombe state to realize their dreams, Hon Ahmed Mailantarki has sponsored no fewer than 18 Gombe lads who are between the ages of 14 and 18 years to a scouting tournament involving a Russian Club.
The sponsorship which is under the Mailantarki Care Football Club will see the young players who were selected based on merit across clubs in Gombe state participating in the Africa scouting tournament in Abuja by the Russian professional football side FCD Vista.
Mailantarki while addressing the Gombe State contingent on Monday, shortly after their arrival in Abuja for the scouting tournament under his sole sponsorship reiterated his desire to help young footballers across the nooks and crannies of the State.

Mailantarki, a renowned politician and successful businessman said his intervention in the area of sports development was to ensure that talented youths were given the platform for their talents to be harnessed for the good of the people of the state.
“We are fully committed in other to help the abundant talents out there so that their dream of becoming Super Stars will be actualized”.
The former House of Representatives Member had since contacted Portuguese giants FC Porto and SL Benfica as well as Greece Super League Champions Olympiacos for partnership on grassroots football development in Gombe State and beyond.
Another son of Gombe State Engr Usman Aliyu who is an ally to Mailantarki was also present to motivate the lads.
Aliyu, who is also the former General Manager of FCT Water Board encouraged the young talents to display their respective skills in other to achieve the aim of participating in the programme.
Mr Auwal Kawuwa David Coordinator of the Gombe State Talented Footballers Forum GOSTAFOF as well as the Secretary-General Adamu Usman Ahmed and Coach Sule Garba who are also the leaders of the contingent, alongside other officials were also present.

Our correspondent reports that the scouting tournament which is commencing today Tuesday, July 20 and holding in Abuja would see 16 clubs and academics from different parts of the country competing.
The tournament is expected to end tomorrow Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
