By Tada Jutha, Maiduguri,
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed 12 people in fresh attacks along the Kirawa road and in the Bokko-Ghide axis of the Gwoza Local Council of Borno state.
Confirming the development over the weekend in Maiduguri, the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, said, “Two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were ambushed along the Pulka-Kiraws road on Friday.
He added that “10 people were also killed while fetching firewood at the foot of the Mandara Mountains.
According to him, the bodies of the 12 victims have been buried on Saturday according to Islamic rites.
The monarch also lamented the resurgence of terrorism in communities and on roads, warning that the renewed attacks could dampen people’s resilience as they commenced this year’s farming activities in the council.
He noted that the resurgence of terrorism in the border communities with Cameroon could also scare more people from farming this year.
The monarch continued: “The federal government and military are putting in their best to end the 16-year Boko Haram insurgency, but more efforts are needed in technological warfare in routing out remnants of terrorists in the Mandara Mountains and Sambisa Forest.
