Gashua Varsity: Hadejia Emirate Congratulates new VC, seek collaboration on unity
The Hadejia Emirate in Jigawa State has congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) Federal University (FU) Gashua in Yobe state.
The Emirate which declared to support and collaborate with varsity to ensure the growth and development of the University extended its congratulatory message through the Hadejia Discussion Group (HDG).
The group according to a statement that was issued by the Head, Information and Protocol Unit of FU Gashua, Adamu Saleh, called for increased synergy and partnership between the Emirate and the varsity.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the VC, leader of the delegation, Pharmacist Hashim Ubale Yusuf, said the group were at the University to congratulate the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri on her appointment as the 3rd substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University.
He said Hadejia Emirate would partner with the University in the area of education, unity and progress of the people of Hadejia and the University’s host community, and the country at large.
“The foundation is made up of people who have excelled in their various fields of human endeavours and would be happy to associate with the University in the development of the University and education,” Ubale said while appealing to the Management of the University to consider the establishment of school of preliminary studies in Hadejia.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, thanked the delegation for the visit and also pledged to partner with the Emirate on areas that will be beneficial to the emirate and the country at large.
Similarly, the Provost of Umar Sulaiman College of Education, Dr. Muhammad Gishiwa, who was part of the delegation, also commended the appointment of Prof. Waziri. He urged the new VC to carry everybody along to take the University to a greater heights.
He said: “You should stay firm in discharging your duties and responsibilities and get ready to face many challenges that might emerge as a result of working in the community you belong”.
On his part the acting Registrar of the University, Aliyu Shehu Bulkachuwa, thanked the Emirate and the College for the visit.
He said the University Management will look at the request tabled on the establishment of preliminary studies at Hadejia.
He also thanked the Management of Umar Sulaiman College of Education for the assistance they have been rendering to the university and called for a stronger relationship between the two institutions.
