Gombe 2027: Focus on Development, Not Politics Yet – Engr. Aliyu Urges Supporters
As political whispers surrounding the 2027 governorship race begin to gain traction in Gombe State, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Aliyu Mohammed popularly known as ‘Kombat’ has urged his supporters to place the state’s ongoing development above premature political ambition.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the Chairman and CEO of Velocity Group Limited a frontline construction and contracting company—cautioned against early politicking, stressing the need to stay aligned with the transformational agenda of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
“I sincerely appreciate the love and calls from various groups encouraging me to join the 2027 race, but for now, our priority must be the continued progress of Gombe State,” Aliyu stated.
He commended Governor Yahaya’s administration for delivering impactful infrastructure projects, such as the expansion of road networks, development of modern public complexes, and the landmark Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, which he described as a game-changer for the state’s economy.
“Let’s remain focused, supportive, and committed to the progress of Gombe State,” Kombat advised. “There is a time for governance and a time for politics. When the moment for political engagement arrives, we shall approach it together—with unity and a shared vision.”
Recent months have seen a surge in endorsements from youth groups, women organisations, and political stakeholders urging the entrepreneur to contest the 2027 governorship election. However, Aliyu has chosen to maintain a developmental focus, aligning with the broader goals of the current administration.
His message comes as a reminder that sustained governance and visible growth must remain the centerpiece of public discourse, even as political aspirations begin to surface across the state.
