Gombe Governor Vows Crackdown on Thuggery After Brutal Killing of Ahmadi Kasiran
…Says Justice Will Be Swift, Assures Family of Government’s Support

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has condemned in strong terms the gruesome murder of Ahmed Aliyu Umar, popularly known as Ahmadi Kasiran, who was stabbed to death by suspected Kalare Boys in inthe Hammadu Kafi area of Gombe metropolis on Sunday night.
The 45-year-old victim was rushed to the Gombe Specialist Hospital following the attack but later succumbed to his injuries. Security reports confirmed he was targeted and fatally stabbed in what authorities believe to be a renewed surge in street violence.
In a statement issued Monday made available by Director General Press Affairs Gombe Government House Gombe, Mr Ismaila Uba Misilli in Gombe.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the killing, describing the act as barbaric, senseless, and a serious threat to public safety.
“This gruesome act is a direct threat to the peace and safety of our people. Let it be known: violence has no place in Gombe State, and we will deal decisively with anyone caught breaching our peace,” the governor said.
He directed all security agencies to immediately swing into action, hunt down the perpetrators, and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
The governor also issued a stern warning to individuals and groups attempting to revive the era of street thuggery and gang violence.
“I have instructed all relevant security agencies to move swiftly. We must not allow these elements to terrorise our people.
“The killers of Ahmed will be hunted down and made to face justice,” Governor Yahaya vowed.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, assuring them that his administration remains fully committed to ensuring justice and sustaining peace across the state.
“To the family and loved ones of the late Ahmed, I extend my deepest condolences. The government and people of Gombe State mourn with you, and I assure you that justice will be served,” he said.
The governor also charged security operatives to intensify intelligence gathering and conduct robust street patrols, particularly in neighbourhoods prone to criminal activity.
“Our people deserve to move about freely without fear or threat to their lives and property,” he added.
Governor Yahaya called on the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help track criminal elements.
He emphasised that the Gombe of today will not tolerate a return to the “dark days of Kalare violence”.
“This state is known for peace, and we intend to keep it that way. We will not allow criminality to fester. Let it be a warning: any individual or group attempting to take us back to the dark days of Kalare violence will have the state to contend with,” the governor warned.
The government reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order, emphasising that no effort will be spared in restoring calm and safeguarding every citizen’s right to life and security.
