Gombe Legislators Support Mr Inuwa Yahaya in His Administration and Leadership
The Gombe State House of Assembly has expressed their support to the state governor, Mr. Inuwa Yahaya, through a vote of confidence congratulating him for 6 years of impactful governance and leadership.
This statement was made by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, in a courtesy meeting with the legislators and the Governor at the Council Chamber, Government House, on Thursday, 29 May 2025.
In the meeting, Speaker Luggerewo disclosed that the motion was initiated and proposed by the House Majority Leader and was carried out in a session held on 27th May 2025. He observed that the motion was based on and cited the achievements of the Governor as well as leadership skills that he demonstrated in the state.
“Our decision to adopt the vote of confidence on the Excellency was driven by the overwhelming and quite noticeable successes his administration has been able to achieve in the last 6 years. The motion received overwhelming support and was adopted without dissent,” the Speaker said.
He went on to stress that even as the Governor had earlier mentioned a number of accomplishments during his anniversary speech, particular emphasis should be given to The Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM), which continues to drive socio-economic growth.
“DEVOGOM is a proactive blueprint that transformed Gombe’s development trajectory by establishing a foundation based on inclusivity, innovation, and good governance. It remains as one of the hallmarks of this administration,” he affed.
The Speaker, while presenting the official stance of the House, reiterated the legislature’s support for the Executive and its endorsement of policies that enhance development across the Gambia.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, in his remarks, said that the Assembly deserves gratitude for the decision, explaining that this vote demonstrates collaboration and trust that exists between both arms of government.
“This vote of confidence is devoid of mere symbolism; rather, it epitomises the single aim and the appreciation that have informed our work together. I am deeply humbled for that and for your commitment towards her uniting objectives,” the Governor said.
He highlighted the necessity of collaboration among government agencies, accepting that political differences are expected but should not inhibit the fighting for shared developmental goals.
“Democracy entails disagreements, but we should never let these disagreements interrupt the spirit of collaboration that fuels our mission. I guarantee you I will work in full collaboration with all of us, as together we will meet the commitments made to our people,” he said at the end.
