Gombe NUJ Backs Alhassan Yahya for National Leadership Role
The Gombe State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has thrown its weight behind Alhassan Yahya, the National Deputy President, as their preferred presidential candidate for the upcoming NUJ national elections.
In a display of confidence, the council took the symbolic step of picking up the nomination form on his behalf.
State Chairman, Malam Faruk Mu’azu Gombe, praised Alhassan for his unwavering dedication to the journalism profession and his strong leadership credentials.
“Comrade Alhassan’s commitment to the growth and development of journalism in Nigeria makes him a standout candidate.
“His vision and leadership are precisely what the union needs,” Faruk said during the presentation of the form.
Alhassan, who has served the union in various capacities, including as the state chairman, zonal vice president of the Northeast, and national deputy president, expressed gratitude for the council’s support.
He pledged to prioritise the welfare, training, and insurance needs of journalists if elected.
“I know the union, and I know what is needed,” Alhassan stated, promising transformative leadership for the NUJ.
