Seven civil servants in Gombe State have been arrested for diverting Free insecticides Treated Nets meant for distribution in Gombe State.
Addressing Journalists this evening in Gombe, the Commissioner of Health, Dr Habu Dahiru stated that the alleged suspects are three staff of Kwami LGA Primary Health Center department and four from Billiri LGA and they are currently in police custody while the investigation is still ongoing to unravel their involvements in the crime.

He said that a total of Nine Bales of the Nets were also recovered which was loaded in different five trucks on their way to Gombe market with the sole intent of diverting them for personal aggrandizement before they were arrested by security agencies.

The Commissioner further disclosed that some of the independent marketers who were arrested and their co-conspirators who were identified civil servants will soon be prosecuted after thorough investigation and if found guilty, will be dismissed according to civil service rules.
Dr Dahiru expressed appreciation to the men of the Nigeria Police Force, the DSS and the members of the civil Defense Corps for their roles in ensuring the recovery of those stolen nets from different locations in the state.
