Gombe Shines at National Qur’anic Recitation Competition: Governor Yahaya Rewards Victorious Contingents
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has celebrated the state’s triumph at the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Kebbi State by honouring the outstanding participants who brought glory to the state.
At a ceremony held at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House, the Governor commended the winners, their families, and schools for their remarkable achievements, noting that their success has elevated the state’s reputation.
“On behalf of the government and the good people of Gombe State, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our exceptional contingent for their stellar performance.
The accomplishments of Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim, who clinched first place in the Female 1st Category (Tafsir
& Qira’at), and Nuhu Mohammed, who secured second place in the Male 1st
Category (Tafsir & Qira’at), alongside other participants, are a testament
to their dedication and the state’s commitment to sound education,” Governor Yahaya stated.
The Governor also lauded the contributions of parents, teachers, and the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, emphasising their pivotal role in nurturing the participants’ talents.
Governor Yahaya announced a series of rewards to celebrate the winners
A 2025 Hajj seat for Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim, the overall winner of the 60 Hifz Female Category, is ₦1 million for Nuhu Mohammed, the runner-up in the Male 1st Category (Tafsir & QQira’at ₦500,000; and ₦500,000,000 ₦500,000 each for the remaining four winners across various categories), and ₦2 million for the State Qur’anic Recitation Committee in recognition of their dedication and efforts.
“These rewards are not only a token of appreciation but also a call to our youth to emulate such dedication and excellence,” the Governor remarked.
He reiterates his administration’s dedication to education, religious values, and youth empowerment. Governor Yahaya assured that his government will continue to invest in initiatives that nurture talents and foster growth.
Also speaking is Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, the Commissioner for Education, who applauded the Governor’s unwavering support, which she was described as instrumental in the contingent’s victory. She also recognised the efforts of the Qur’anic Recitation Committee in ensuring the success of the participants.
