Gombe’s Misilli Clinches Most Outstanding Spokesperson Award
The spotlight once again shone on Gombe State as Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, clinched the coveted Most Outstanding Spokesperson of the Year award in the State Government category, his second consecutive win at the prestigious National Spokespersons Awards.
The high-profile ceremony, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, brought together communication strategists from across Nigeria’s 36 states, federal ministries, agencies, and the presidency.
Organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in partnership with Image Merchants Promotions Limited and supported by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, the event was the grand finale of a three-day Spokespersons Summit.
Misilli’s consistent excellence in public communication, journalism, and strategic image management once again earned him national recognition, with the selection committee hailing his precision, editorial mastery, and clarity in storytelling.
“From impactful press statements to thought-provoking opinion pieces, Misilli has proven himself as a beacon of professional excellence in government-media relations,” the jury stated, adding that his mentorship of emerging communicators and his unwavering dedication to transparency have made him a standout figure in public relations.
The summit was declared open by Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris and featured thought-leadership sessions with prominent figures, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon. Abbas Tajudeen and former Information Ministers Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief John Nwodo, Mr Frank Nweke Jr, Labaran Maku, and Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
NIPR President, Dr Ike Neliaku, alongside Hon. Rotimi Akintunde Jr, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, lauded Misilli’s trailblazing impact and urged him and other awardees to remain standard-bearers for ethical and impactful communication.
In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Misilli dedicated the award to Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, crediting the governor’s visionary leadership and unwavering support as the driving force behind his achievements.
“This award is a testament to the enabling environment His Excellency has created for effective governance communication. I share this recognition with my team, my family, and everyone working behind the scenes to project Gombe State’s progress with clarity and truth,” Misilli stated.
