Speaking during the flagging off of the distribution at Mechanical Workshop in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Rahis said sharing the food item especially rice to the constituents is critical due to the negative effects of Boko Haram insurgency on the people of the state coupled with the current economic meltdown in the country.
He explained that out of the 794 beneficiaries selected 100 of them were aged men, 200 vulnerable female headships, 160 victims of insurgency, 40 APC stakeholders and 194 vulnerable families selected from the 15 wards within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
According to him, the removal of fuel subsidy coupled with the increase in price of goods and services had forced many people into sufferings, while the palliative would alleviate the economic hardship faced by the less privileged people in his 15 wards of his constituency.
” Today we are again to distribute rice to poor and less privilege persons in our society, during our electioneering campaign we promised that we will be there for you in whatever situation, so we here to give food items to you.
“We have selected 794 vulnerable families in our 15 wards in my constituency, each of the beneficiaries would get 50kg of rice, which I believed will reduce the suffering of our people.
“We will continue to support you as we promised, please don’t sell the rice, please go and feed your family particularly during this Ramadan period.
He commended Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum for sharing food items and cash to his people.
Speaking, the APC Borno State Secretary, Barr. Mustapha Liskurima, has urged other politicians in the state to emulate Rahis for his gesture.
“Hon. Kadiri has today distributed rice worth N70m, the gesture showed that the lawmaker is concerned about the current economic situation of his people and he promised to do more.
