In Bauchi, NDE Trains 300 Unemployed Youths on Cosmetology, Others
On Wednesday, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) commenced the training of 300 unemployed youths in Bauchi State on cosmetology and other trades.
NDE Director-General, Nasir Argungu, says the exercise is part of the Federal Government’s resolve to tackle the worrisome unemployment in the country.
According to him,the 300 youths were recruited and would be trained under the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) of the NDE.
Argungu who was represented by the state Coordinator of NDE, Lawan Yaya, pointed out that 200 of the beneficiaries are women engaged purely on cosmetology.
He said the other 100 which consisted mainly of men were to be trained on other trades such as tailoring, carpentry, bricks and blocks laying, welding, computer training among others.
He explains that, under cosmetology training, participants were going to learn how to make both liquid and bar soaps, hair cream, perfume, jewelries and vaseline, said the training would last for two weeks.
He said the training for other trades would take up to three months with the participants entitled to six thousand naira as transport fare.
“The cosmetology training is going to last for the period of two weeks while that of other trades would be three months.
“For the three months, the participants would be entitled to stipends of six thousand naira as transport fare while those of cosmetology would be given one thousand naira as transport fare for the two weeks,” said the D-G.R

Argungu advised the participants to be very serious about the training, saying it was a rare opportunity given to them.
“My advice for them is that they should be serious about their training because this is a rare opportunity that if it is somewhere they want to learn it, they may be spending up to N50,000 to learn it,” he said.
Mrs Zainab Hassan, one of the participants who spoke on behalf of others appreciated the NDE and the Federal Government for the rare opportunity given to them.
He advised others to make the best of the training so as to be self reliant and employer of labour.
