ISWAP reportedly blows off high tension towers supplying electricity to Maiduguri

More than four high tension towers that supplied electricity from Damaturu to Maiduguri have been reportedly blown off again by some suspected members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Saturday night.
The incident is said to have occurred in Garin kuturu village which is bout two km away from Auno.

According to the report, the incident happened between 7 pm and 10 pm on Saturday.
Sources said four towers were already on the ground while the fifth one was about to fall.

Residents have described the development as unfortunate, adding that there was no hope in sight even after about 10 months of lack of electricity supply in the city of Maiduguri.
