Kashim Tumsah Rewards Yobe Teen Champions After Outshining 20,000 Rivals in London English Contest
In a remarkable celebration of academic excellence, renowned development advocate and diplomat Alhaji Kashim Tumsah has pledged a total cash reward of ₦1.5 million and brand-new laptops to three brilliant students from Yobe State who stole the spotlight at the 2025 TeenEagle Global English Championship held in London, United Kingdom.
The trio Nafisa Abdullahi (17), Ruqayya Fema (15), and Hadiza Kalli, all students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo – triumphed over more than 20,000 participants from 69 countries, securing top positions in debate, English language proficiency, and the prestigious Outstanding Talent Award for creativity and presentation skills.
Announcing the reward on Tuesday in Damaturu, Tumsah praised the students for their inspiring performance on the world stage. Each of the champions will receive ₦500,000 and a laptop in recognition of their exceptional achievement.
“We are extremely proud of Nafisa, Ruqayya, and Hadiza, who not only represented Nigeria but also brought global recognition to Yobe State,” Tumsah said. “Their victory underscores the untapped potential of our youth, especially in the Northeast.”
Tumsah, who is fondly referred to by his initials KMT, noted that the students’ success is a product of consistent investment in education and youth development under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
“This outstanding accomplishment speaks volumes about what can be achieved when young minds are nurtured in the right learning environment. It’s a win for Yobe, a win for Nigeria, and a clear demonstration that excellence knows no boundaries,” he added.
The advocate also recalled his earlier educational intervention this year, where he awarded ₦100,000 each to 29 high-performing students who scored 300 and above in the 2025 UTME.
Tumsah’s gestures continue to inspire a new generation of scholars, putting Yobe State firmly on the global education map.
