Ministry of Environment Conducts Monthly Sanitation Exercise in Maiduguri

In a dedicated effort to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the Ministry of Environment recently conducted its monthly sanitation exercise in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas Led by the Honourable Commissioner, Engr Emat Kois, a team of officials, including the General Manager of BOSEPA, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman, the Permanent Secretary, the General Manager of BOTMA, and the General Manager of Urban Planning, actively participated in the exercise.
During the supervision of the exercise, Commissioner Kois assured the people of Borno state that the Ministry will intensify its efforts to keep the state clean and hygienic. He also urged the general public to prioritize cleanliness in their immediate environment and strictly adhere to the restriction of movement imposed during the exercise. Violators of these restrictions will face arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.

Expressing his appreciation for the overwhelming response from the public, General Manager Alh. Abubakar Suleiman thanked the citizens of Maiduguri for actively participating in the exercise and taking the initiative to clean their surroundings.
Highlighting the significance of proper waste management, General Manager Suleiman sternly warned the public against dumping refuse into drainages and waterways. He emphasized that such actions would not be tolerated, as they can cause environmental hazards and disrupt normal water flow. Any individuals found guilty of this offense will face legal consequences and be subject to arrest and prosecution.
The monthly sanitation exercise covered numerous areas within Maiduguri, including the post office, Monday Market Area, Bulumkutu, Ngomri, Bama Road, Ajilari, Gamboru market, Giwa Barrack area, Moduganari Tashan Kano, and others. The inspection of these locations aimed to ensure that proper sanitation measures were being followed and to encourage the public to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the city.
With the commitment and active participation of the Ministry of Environment and the public, Maiduguri and its environs are on track to becoming cleaner and healthier communities. The ministry remains dedicated to its mission of safeguarding the environment for the benefit of all residents, and will continue to organize regular sanitation exercises to achieve this goal.
