NAHCON Flags Off 2025 Hajj with Advance Team Departure to Saudi Arabia
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially kicked off preparations for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage with the deployment of its Advance Team to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The team, made up of key operational personnel and senior members of the National Medical Team, departed Abuja on Monday after a farewell ceremony at the Hajj House.
During the send-off, NAHCON’s Director of Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Babagana Bukar, praised the team’s dedication during previous pilgrimages and expressed full confidence in their capabilities. He also urged the commission’s leadership to continue offering strong support to ensure a smooth and successful operation.
In his remarks, NAHCON Chairman Professor Abdullahi Saleh reminded the team of the sacred nature of their assignment. “You are going to serve the guests of Allah. This is not a vacation—this is a duty that must be approached with sincerity, unity, and fear of Allah,” he said. He emphasized that their success would reflect the overall success of the commission.
Supporting the message, Professor Abubakar Yagawal, Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services, called on the team to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and patience. He described their role as vital to the overall success of the 2025 pilgrimage.
Adding to this, Dr. Mustapha Sani, the commission’s secretary, assured members that their welfare had been prioritized, noting that necessary packages and support systems were already in place. “You are laying the foundation for the entire operation. NAHCON stands solidly behind you,” he affirmed.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Malam Alidu Shutti, Deputy Makkah Coordinator and Director of Inspectorate and Compliance, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in them. “We are tested professionals, and we’re committed to delivering on our responsibilities without fail,” he assured.
The advance team is tasked with critical pre-arrival arrangements, including securing accommodations, coordinating with Saudi officials, and setting up reception protocols at airports. Their work ensures a smooth experience for Nigerian pilgrims and officials during the pilgrimage.
Their departure marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s Hajj journey, laying the groundwork for a seamless and spiritually fulfilling experience for thousands of intending pilgrims.
