Ndume commends troops for protecting Borno border community

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has praised troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade for repelling the midnight attack on Gwoza council headquarters in Borno State.
Gwoza, a border community with Cameroon, was attacked last Friday by Boko Haram terrorists through the entry point of Guduf Hill.
The attack came barely 24 hours after the insurgents killed two soldiers and an unspecified number of civilians at the Yamtake military outpost, 25 kilometres west of Gwoza.
Ndume, representing the Borno South senatorial district, confirmed the repulsion of terrorists, stating, “Our gallant troops have already chased the insurgents from causing any damage to lives and property at the council headquarters, as well as the military formation of the brigade.
He noted that even though the Friday attack was foiled by the gallant troops, terrorism resurgence is worrisome with the rising residents’ fears and apprehension.
His words: “I thanked troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade, led by Gen. Nasir Abdullahi, that protected the council headquarters from terrorists’ destruction of lives and property.”
The senator added that the troops who engaged the terrorists for about 30 minutes were chased through the Guduf hills in the early hours of Saturday.
The border community was liberated by the military in March 2015, before the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Timta, relocated along with over 5,500 IDP returnees in 2018.
The displaced persons had lived in IDP camps in Maiduguri for seven years before the Zulum administration relocated and resettled them to continue with their farming and business activities.
