NEDC graduates 330 ICT students with starter packs, N6.6m

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has graduated 192 students in the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) in Yobe State.

The Commission is also to establish ICT centres in each of the three senatorial districts to empower more youths.

While graduating the students Tuesday in Damaturu, NEDC’s Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali disclosed: “Each of the graduated students is provided with starter packs and N20, 000, including a two months’ stipends of N9.9 million.”

He noted that the second batch of grandaunts; is under the ICT training scheme of Commission to empower unemployed youths.

“We’ve successfully graduated 330 beneficiaries under the ICT youths empowerment scheme at the Federal University, Gashua,” he said.

He said the Commission’s vision for ICT development is to see a prosperous 21st century Northeast region with a robust ICT local content-driven industry.

According to him, the ICT driven industry could deliver economic and social services that enhance wealth creation, environment sustainability with safety for all.

The NEDC focal person, Dr, Ali Ibrahim Abbas said he will continue to collaborate with stakeholders and other relevant agencies to achieve the mandate of the Commission.

“We’re working with Governor Mai Mala Buni to achieve peace and socioeconomic development in the region,” he said.
