The insurgency displaced vulnerable women, were each granted N50, 000 to set up their business outfits to improve their livelihoods in communities.

EEP Coordinator, Shettima Bukar yesterday (Friday) in Damaturu disclosed that it was the initiatives of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Mai Mala Buni to cushion the hardships of small scale business holders.

According to him, the 12-year Boko Haram insurgency has also destroyed several livelihoods of IDPs in camps and host communities in the state.

He lamented that the Boko Haram crisis and COVID-19 pandemic have destroyed a lot of business outfits with the IDP women most hit for over a decade in the 17 local councils.

“The disbursement of N25 million grants to women is not a loan, but a support to restore their lost means of livelihoods,” he said.

Falmata Adamu, a mother of five from the Gulani council, pledged to utilize the grant to restore and improve her livelihoods with the children.
