Nigerian Army Bids Emotional Farewell to Late Major General Seidu Musa
The Nigerian Army on Thursday bid a final farewell to the late Major General Seidu Inaboya Musa in a solemn ceremony at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja. The ceremony, attended by top military brass, family, and friends, marked the end of an illustrious career that spanned over three decades.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, led the tributes, acknowledging Major General Musa’s invaluable contributions to the military legal system and his unflinching dedication to duty. “Major General Musa’s legacy will forever be etched in the institutional fabrics of the Nigerian Army,” General Lagbaja said.
Major General Ohwohigho Akpor, Chief of Administration (Army), described the late senior officer as “brilliant, diligent, resourceful, and meticulous” with vast experience and exceptional moral standards. “Major General Musa lived an impactful life, providing valuable insights and guidance on legal issues,” General Akpor added.
The burial ceremony featured a funeral church service at the All Saints Military Protestant Church, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. The Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim, presented the national flag to the deceased officer’s next-of-kin. A volley was fired, and wreaths were laid in honor of the late General.
Born on May 4, 1968, in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Major General Seidu Inaboya Musa was granted Direct Regular Commission as a member of the National Guard/Direct Regular Commission on September 25, 1993. He rose steadily to the enviable rank of Major General, serving as Director Legal Services (Army) until his passing on September 23, 2024.
The interment ceremony was attended by principal staff officers from the Defence and Army Headquarters, retired and serving senior military officers, President Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe (SAN), eminent members of the bar, family, friends, and sympathizers.
The Nigerian Army has lost a dedicated and exceptional officer, but Major General Seidu Musa’s legacy will continue to inspire and motivate the nation’s military personnel.
