NMCN approves College of Nursing Sciences in Yobe
The Board of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, has approved the establishment of the College of Nursing Sciences at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, in Yobe.
This is contained in a copy of the approval letter made available to Journalists in Nguru on Thursday, by Alhaji Musa Kaku, FMC Nguru’s Information Officer.

The letter, dated Feb. 1, stated that the council made the approval pursuant to Section. 14 (sub-section. 1,2) of Act 143, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (2004).
The letter read in part: “In view of the above, I wish to convey the board’s approval to commence training of nurses and midwives at the College of Nursing Sciences, FMC, Nguru.
The approvals are as follows:
“General Nursing Programme – provisional accreditation status of 50 students intake with effect from February 2022 ( admission period – April).
“Basic Midwifery Programme – Provisional accreditation status of 50 students intake with effect from February 2022 ( admission period – March),” it stated.
The letter, however, directed the Centre to pay the sum of N3.3 million as an establishment fee for each programme.
It further directed that the payment be made through the Council’s TSA account.
