A group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens of the Northeast has raised the alarm over attempts by some religious scholars within and outside Nigeria to discredit the reputation of the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Gen Christopher Gabwin Musa.
In a statement by its Secretary, Auwal Ahmed, the group urged the public to disregard such attempts, adding that Gen Musa was a detribalized and professional soldier.

The group noted that while it recognized the right of everyone to voice their opinion on any national or international issue, it also believed that it was wrong to keep silent when innocent persons who are trying to discharge their constitutional duties were being maligned and blackmailed by others.
According to the group, General Musa’s emergence as the Chief of Defense Staff was due to his sterling track record as a professional infantry general, who had helped the community and Nigeria at large to the best of his ability.
It added that despite being a committed Christian, the CDS has strong credentials when it comes to the issue of religious tolerance.
“For the records, we want to make it clear that General Musa, who was born and grew up in Sokoto, has strong credentials when it comes to the issue of religious tolerance even though he is a committed Christian,” the group stated.
According to the group, it is wrong for anyone to link Gen Musa with revenge or vendetta on behalf of Zangon Kataf because of what is happening in Niger Republic.
