Northern Christian Leaders Applaud Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s Dedication to Peace, Security, unity
Prominent Christian leaders from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led by Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam, has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his unwavering commitment to inclusivity, peace, and economic progress in Gombe State.
Their commendation came during a dinner hosted by the governor at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Gombe, in honor of the visiting clergy and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) delegation.
The delegation’s visit coincided with their mission to extend goodwill to the Muslim community on the occasion of the Eid El-Fitr celebration.
Rev. Pam highlighted the hospitality extended to them as a reflection of Governor Yahaya’s inclusive leadership, which fosters unity and peaceful coexistence.
He noted that such principles are fundamental to the socio-economic growth of both the Northern region and the nation at large.
The cleric acknowledged Governor Yahaya’s achievements, particularly in infrastructural development, citing the 40-megawatt hydropower project at Dadinkowa Dam and the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park as transformative initiatives.
He described these projects as catalysts for economic growth, investment opportunities, and improved livelihoods.
Addressing the subject of security, Rev. Pam praised the governor’s leadership in ensuring Gombe remains a model of stability in Northern Nigeria.
He also lauded his role as Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum in fostering regional cooperation and devising solutions to security challenges.
Rev. Pam condemned the recent killing of 16 Northerners in Edo State, urging both the Federal and Edo State governments to ensure justice is served.
In his remarks, Governor Yahaya emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration, and mutual understanding in fostering peace and progress. He described Gombe as a microcosm of Nigeria, where diverse ethnic and religious communities coexist harmoniously. This peaceful atmosphere, he noted, is a product of deliberate government efforts and the people’s commitment to stability.
The governor also addressed the broader security challenges plaguing Northern Nigeria, attributing them to the unchecked pursuit of material wealth. He advocated for a focus on legitimate means of livelihood as a way to curb crime and insecurity.
Highlighting the pressures of population growth and competition for resources, he explained that the establishment of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park was a strategic move to attract investors and revitalize the economy, much like the efforts of the late Northern Premier.
Governor Yahaya stressed that issues like poverty, disease, and hunger affect all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious background, urging collective action to restore hope and stability across the country.
The event concluded with a special prayer session led by Reverend Father Dodo, seeking divine intervention for the peace and prosperity of Gombe State and Nigeria.
