NSCDC deploy 299 Agro-Rangers in Gombe state to tackle possible farmers-herders clashes
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps deployed 299 Agro-Rangers and other personnel on Wednesday in Gombe State to stave off farmers-herders clashes.
Its commandant in the state, Malam Muhammad Muazu said “Agro-Rangers’’ is a specialised unit deployed to major cattle routes in the state to tackle possible clashes.
He said their deployment became necessary to enforce the restriction of cattle movement and migration order of the state government.

“The deployment of the specialised personnel is in line with the corps’ mission of developing structures and strategies that would contribute to national security using modern technology.
“Harvest season in Gombe state and in other parts of the country comes with many challenges.
“Considering the fact that Gombe state is 80 per cent agrarian, there is the need for security intervention.
“Herders will soon begin their migration from Yobe and Bauchi states in particular in search of water and greener pasture,’’ he said.
Muazu warned that any herder or farmer found violating the restriction order would face the full wrath of the law.
He urged farmers in the state to report any suspicious activity or security threat to the nearest security post.
The commandant assured that the NSCDC would not rest on its oars until Gombe state was completely free of insecurity.
