NUJ, others holds Political debate for Bauchi Governorship candidates

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Council in collaboration with other Associations in Bauchi has organized a political debate for four Bauchi Governorship candidates to promote their Political agenda to the electorates for an informed decision in the 2023 general elections.
Our Correspondent reports that the debate was in collaboration with Nigeria Institutes for Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Medical Association, Medical and Health Workers Union.of Nigeria (MAHWUN) and Society for Peace Studies and Practices Bauchi state chapters.
The debate focused on way forward to receiving sectors such as Education,Health, Empowerment, Agriculture and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Speaking,Prof Shuaibu Muhammad,chairman,Election Debate Group 2023,said that the activity was aimed to.create a platform to air developmental issues in Bauchi state.
In his Contribution, Amb. Sadiq Abubakar Governorship candidates for All Progressive Congress (APC) promised electorates to reclaimed farmlands allocated to individuals to boost agricultural activities in the state.
He pledged to have an overhaul of the education and health sector for human capital development and bridge personnel gaps.
Sadiq said that APC would provide hands-on training for teachers and derived a measure to curtail incidence of maternal and health mortality in the state.
The APC candidate said that if elected, he would run transparent and accountable to the people.
He said that the state would partner the Federal government to generate more IGR through exploration of mineral resources.
Similarly, Sen Bala Mohammed, governorship candidate for People Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state said that if elected, his administration would continue with its strategic plan to develop the state.
He mentioned that his administration has recruited human resources for health in the state.
He said that the present administration has boosted the state IGR, adding that more would be done to ensure judicious use of funds.
Going further, the Governorship candidates for PRP,Barr. Umar Ahmed said that if elected, corrupt practices would be addressed in the system.
He said that if elected the cost of governance would be reduced by 50 per cent to uphold good practices of accountability in the system.
He also pledged to permanently address issues around pension and salaries of civil servants in the state.
