The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has charged corp members to serve their host communities with passion and diligence.
According to him, this will ensure their welfare and well-being during the one-year national service to the country. Nafiu gave the charge on Monday while addressing 1,024 corp members at the Dazigau permanent orientation camp in the Nangere local council of Yobe state.
He urged them to exhibit exemplary discipline in camp and the host communities where they are to serve during their primary assignments.
“Today’s camp visit was to boost your morale while emphasising your welfare and safety in Yobe state,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of service to Nigeria, the general stated that the corp members are encouraged to accept their postings in good faith while serving in communities with unwavering passion.
He also wished them success in their one-year service with the distribution of undisclosed tokens to selected groups, including the quarter guard, cultural troupe, Man-O-War team, and the overall parade commander.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Hajiya Salamatu Muhammad, said that the corp members comprise 625 males and 399 females in camp and they are to serve in 17 local government areas of the state, adding that they have been well-behaved since their arrivals in camp along the Damaturu-Kano road.
