NYSC lauds Gombe govt for augmenting corps members’ feeding
The National Youth Service Corps, on Friday commended the Gombe State government for consistently augmenting the feeding of corps members during their orientation programme in the state.
The Gombe State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Chinwe Nwachuku gave the commendation during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream I corps members at the temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
Nwachuku said the support showed the state government’s commitment to the wellbeing and welfare of corps members posted to the state.
According to her, the support has been helpful in ensuring adequate feeding for the corps members and ensuring their comfort while on camp.
“I also want to seize this opportunity to thank immensely His Excellency for always coming to our aid in terms of augmentation of feeding during every orientation course.
“Sir we are indeed very grateful, and we know that it is as a result of the unflinching love you have for the scheme and the youths in the country as a whole,” she said.
She further commended all stakeholders in the state for their supports in areas of general welfare and security of corps members.
However, Nwachuku appealed to the state government to fulfil its commitment to providing a befitting orientation camp in the state before the end of 2025.
While speaking to the corps members, she urged them to seize the opportunity provided by the scheme to realise their potentials and attain individuals’ feats both during and after the service year.
She further enjoined them to “live freely in the state while obeying the laws and traditions of the people wherever you may be posted.
“I assure you that most of you like me, will not leave Gombe at the end of your stay.
On the number of registered corps members for the exercise, She said: “as at close of registration on Thursday night, a total of 1, 456 corps members were registered comprising 868 male and 588 female.”
On his part, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State while the declaring the exercise open, assured corps members of their safety while in the state.
Yahaya who was represented by the state’s Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Inuwa Ibrahim urged the young graduates to contribute to the development of the state and country in line with the mandate of the scheme.
