Parliamentary staff join strike seals Bauchi Assembly

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Bauchi state Chapter has shut down the state Assembly to join the Nationwide indefinite strike embarked upon by the Association.

Mr Ishaku Gital,the Chairman Bauchi state Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria,( PASAN) stated this while briefing journalists on Tuesday in Bauchi

He said the state chapter has joined the Nationwide strike embarked upon to follow the directives of the National President if the Association

Gital said the strike became necessary in order to respond to the federal government’s unwillingness to implement the Financial Autonomy Act of 2018 and Presidential Order 10, 2020.

According to him, “The union has exhausted all attempts aimed at asking for the implementation of the Financial Autonomy by the federal government after 21 days, 14 days and 7 days ultimatum.

“At this juncture, the union has no other option than to direct members to embark on indefinite strike.

“Our members have run out of patience and have resolved to forthwith put an end to further delays to the implementation of the Financial Autonomy,” he said.

He said the strike action commences the morning of Tuesday 23rd of March 2021, until full implementation of the letters of their constitution as provided in section 121 (3) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Presidential Order 10,2020.

“It is all directed that no Chapter leadership should engage in any negotiation as all negotiations must be done centrally.

Gital reiterated that the state Assembly would remain closed until the National office of the association gives other directive

Our Correspondents reports the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, has directed its members nationwide to shut down the National Assembly and all the 36 State Houses of Assembly from midnight Monday, March 22 indefinitely.
