The Police Command in Adamawa State has arrested 1,146 suspected members of various high-profile criminal gangs across the state.
Police Commissioner, Adamu Aliyu, who disclosed this on Monday, said his Command has got 426 of the suspects convicted by courts while 720 others are awaiting trial.

He said the arrests and convictions were effected from January this year to date, beginning from January 11 when he assumed office as the state CP.
He added the arrests were carried out by the anti-kidnapping Unit, Anti- Shilla Squad, CID Personnel, SIB and other Divisional Police operatives of the Command, in conjunction with hardworking hunters, Pulaku and Vigilante groups.

The CP disclosed this at a news briefing in his office at the Police state headquarters in Yola, where he gave an account of his stewardship in the eight months that he has been the police commissioner.
Giving a breakdown of the arrests, the CP said they included 21 suspects in connection with the recent killings of seven persons in Dasin Bwate, Fufore LGA, which he said is still being investigated.
